God consistently tells His people not to return to Egypt in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 17:16). The church fathers teach that Egypt was a type of sin and a type of the world. These things considered, it’s worth pondering why all the mystery schools, even Platonic and Pythagorean schools, find their intellectual lineage connected to Egypt in its rites and ceremonies.
Figures such as Manly P. Hall and Madame Blavatsky would say that the rites and teachings are older than Egypt, and they indeed are. This further strengthens the idea that even to this day, we, as God’s people, the Church, are called out of the land of Egypt, being the sinful culture of this world and its evil rites, ceremonies, and mystery schools, and told not to return there.
The Exodus of Israel was a past historical event, and it is a spiritual truth for us in the present.
